VISION…

What is your vision for your life?

Creating a vision statement for life is not something that we as a society commonly do. We tend to live out our lives day to day without a plan. Ironically, in the business world, planning for our children's future and so on, we tend to have a blueprint or at least a basic plan, for example, sending your child to college.

Creating a vision for yourself can be very empowering. You can take a look at your specific values, what you value doing, your lifestyle and financial situation and come up with a vision statement for you.

For instance, I see myself with a house in the suburbs, two kids, two dogs, and my husband. I love my life. I am actively involved in school activities and sports. I work from home and help to provide for the family financially. I make time to meet with friends to talk and let the kids play together. I work out or walk every day for me. And so on….

Picturing your life and seeing it can help you to achieve it. The key is to know what you want.

Do you see yourself having a big family? Do you only want one child? Do you want to continue working? Do you want to stay at home? Do you want to work from home? Do you envision yourself participating in playgroups? Do you socialize with friends? Do you participate in activities with other adults (no kids)?

How are your values a part of your vision for how you live your life and how you will raise your child? How do you see your child fitting into your vision? How do you see your vision affecting your relationship and the values of your child? What values support your vision?

Focus on the positives. Know what will help you to be happy. See happiness in your vision. Make happiness a value that emanates through your vision. This happiness will overflow from you to your family. Include them in your vision and include them in your sense of joy.
